Asia Digital Mojo was asked to provide practical UX Design and O2O Marketing mentoring to the two winning startups “living” in the Cage. WhatSquare and Whoolala are both utilizing technology to tackle new business opportunities in the China’s fashion market. Though taking big leaps into white spaces in the growing landscape, how can they better understand their potential consumers and make products that are truly “sticky” to Chinese shoppers? During our mentoring sessions, we challenged by asking why, after why, after why. With design thinking, we don’t just ask how. It is essential for us to craft around the problem and create directions. Instead of filtering solutions and narrowing down to “best” options, why don’t we first pay some attention to discovering the psychology and behaviors of our customers. It is through deep understanding that we can create absolutely irreplaceable experiences.
