How is the digital age evolving the art scene? Ryoji Ikeda, a Paris and Kyoto-based Japanese electronic composer and visual artist, shows exactly how that is happening. Exploring the new notion of quantum information, the show Superposition uses binary language to compose sounds, visuals and performance to provoke the understanding of the reality of nature on an atomic scale. The speed, vastness, precision and depth of the digital and mathematical space was communicated to bring an absolutely unexpectable visceral experience to the audience through delicate schematic visuals on large and small screens, webcams and a pumping sound system. Just as we are using technology to drive prosperity, we are also dissembling information structures to the roots of literally everything to define meanings, and understanding the many secrets within our universe. Truly a wow hour for us – we left mesmerised with flashes of the show imprinted in our minds.
